Dk Discovery Day ~ Baby Knits Made Easy ~ GIVEAWAY!

It happened a long time ago…yes, my love for knitting and crocheting began as a youngster…with my mother teaching me to knit and crochet even as young as 4 years old! (of course, those were very simple little projects back then. 🙂 ) However, through the years, the love for working with yarn has stayed with me, and although I’ve often gone several years without even touching a set of knitting needles, it somehow always draws me back again. Now that I’ve got my own children, one of my favorite things to do is to knit items for them. From mittens to slippers, to adorable beanies or hats. It’s the perfect way to help me wind down and relax in the evenings after all the little ones are dreaming in their beds. 😉

DK Canada has several wonderful books that focus on knitting, and my new favorite is Baby Knits Made Easy. These quick and easy beginner projects have been perfect for my busy life as a stay-at-home mom! Not only are they easy, but they are also really cute and fun. We loved the Toy Caddy and Flower Pom-Pom Beanie (a hat that reminds us that spring IS on it’s way! 🙂 )

Here’s the part that makes this book truly great though…it has all of the techniques and different terminology, etc. you’ll need to know RIGHT THERE. So, no searching for a YouTube video on how to do a certain stitch! It’s all clearly laid out in front of you, and the instructions are very easy to follow. This book is ideal for someone like me who recently has decided to start knitting again after a few years of laying down the knitting needles. It’s a great refresher book and the easy to follow projects give you a sense of accomplishment…plus the kids LOVE the handmade, knit items! Baby Knits Made Easy is also perfect for someone who is just learning the art of knitting…and for thsoe who are experienced? Well, the 50 knitting projects and patterns will inspire you and spur you on to some new knitting projects. The photography in the book is wonderful. Crisp, clear…and inspiring. There are plenty of options for each project as well and you’ll be knitting up beautiful creations for boys, girls, babies and toddlers in no time at all!

I’m looking forward to try many more of the patterns in Baby Knits Made Easy – and with spring no-where in sight, I do believe that I will still have plenty of snowy evenings to pull out those knitting needles and create a warm pair of slippers, a cozy baby sweater, or maybe a fun hat or two!

Note: If you’d like to view a pattern from Baby Knits Made Easy, there is a free download for a cute beanie, right here!
