Atopic Skin, Eczema…or in other words, dry, cracked, itchy, painful skin…is a condition that many people suffer from – often including even the youngest ones in our households! Thankfully, not all our children suffer from atopic skin or eczema, but there is one in particular who has struggled with it for quite a while. For him, it flares up on his elbows – particularly when he’s been in contact with chlorine or “pool water.” The drier winter conditions that we have for at least half the year here in the prairie provinces also cause it to flare up more often. There are times when I’ve watched him scratch and scratch…and the skin becomes cracked and very sore. As a mom, it’s hard to see that and it’s even harder to not have a good remedy that will help solve the problem.

elbows

As you can see in the pictures to the right, his one elbow is slightly sore with some rough, dry skin and even a bit of a sore where he did a little too much scratching. It’s not too bad in this image as we haven’t been in any chlorine water recently and the lack of dry winter weather has caused it to subside somewhat. That said, the eczema never seems to go away completely.

Recently we had the opportunity to try a new product to help break this vicious and never-ending cycle, and to help us gain control over his atopic skin. Nutratopic Pro-AMP is available as an emollient cream (specifically for kids), an infant facial cream, an emollient lotion and a protective bath gel. Our main course of action has been to use the Nutratopic emollient cream for the past three weeks. The results have been quick and obvious. Not only does Intega Nutratopic provide relief for my little man from his itching (which in turn will keep him from scratching so much!) but I also believe there are a few other factors that have aided the healing of his atopic skin. Nutratopic has ingredients that provide deep hydration and restore barrier function. It reinforces the liquid mantle by using ingredients such as ceramides, omega-6 and L-isoleucine. Yes, yes, and yes! The benefits of these ingredients have been evident in our use of Nutratopic thus far. In addition to all that, Nutratopic will also help to prevent the risk of bacterial adhesion. In other words, it’s got your little ones’ skin well covered and well protected and will help to aid in the healing of their atopic skin.
