The Incredible Intergalactic Journey! ~Giveaway

TheJourneyHome_Cover (1)I’ve come to love personalized books. Sure, perhaps they’re not quite as easy to re-gift when your kids are done with them, but the extra joy our kids have when it’s a book just for THEM, makes it worthwhile! And there is quite the variety out there on the personalized book front now!

Lost My Name has just come out with a second personalized book! Their first one was called “The Little Boy (or Girl) Who Lost His (Her) Name”. The new one is………..”The Incredible Intergalactic Journey Home”. Wow. Even the name of it sounds great! Since my son has learned some a bit about the planets and universe at school, I figured this would be a perfect book for him.

This book starts out with two friends (one named Hubble) on a secret trip where they even see Aidan’s name written in the stars! Pretty cool, eh? But then a meteor comes along and, well, their lemonade (the drinks of astronauts, no doubt!) spilled on their computer and only the computer knew the way back home! What are they going to do?

Name in stars_pageAlong the way they might some new “creatures” and make some new friends and each one helps out by providing a bit of assistance for them to get home! Once they find earth again, they know they’re getting close but, my, the earth is a big place! How on earth will they ever find their home again? Once again, they get assistance along the way that points them towards North America!

Now this is where the book gets really neat! As they’re headed in the direction of home they see something below that makes Aidan realize they’re really close to home! You see, we live in Saskatchewan. And one thing that is a recognizable part of this province is the Saskatchewan Legislative Building in Regina. It really is a beautiful building and sure enough – there it is in our book – a beautiful overhead view, including a few clouds, of the Legislative Building! It doesn’t take long when Aidan cries out “There’s my home, I’d know it anywhere!” This is the part that brings out the book’s claim to be the “most technologically advanced book”! You see, when you are creating this book, you can enter your address. From there, a satellite image is pulled up of your house! How cool is that!? And, even if you don’t live in town, like us, you can find your house! The system actually lets you scroll around on the map to find your house – which worked great for us because we live in the country and don’t have an address! Aidan was very excited when he saw this particular page and saw that it was our new yard site!

Now unfortunately, they do end up crash landing in their yard, but hey, they’re home, they’re safe, and the lemonade helped save the day by putting the fire out! And once back in bed, Aidan realized that, as much fun as it was to see everything he saw, he’d rather be back home with those who loved him. Awwwwwww.

Satellite_pageThere are so many fun books out there! Personalized books that even allow you to have a satellite picture of your house – too cool! Even if a family moves, it’s still a neat book to have around as it’s a memory of the house and the area you lived in. And kids really do enjoy the personalization side of these books!  I also like how you can add a personalized note to your child in the book. It’s fun, now that Aidan can read, to have him flipping through the book and realize that his name is written again – and that it’s a note just for him from us!

This book, while only a softcover, feels like a quality book. Each of the pages is almost cardstock quality – not stiff obviously – but thick enough to feel nice and heavy and not at all like my son is going to rip the page when he turns it at the center of the book rather than the outside! (My pet peeve about my kids and how they read books!)

Overall, I highly recommend Lost My Name books to our readers! They’re fun, they’re personalized, and they’re great quality. Remember, they’re all printed one at a time – so it’s pretty awesome to see great quality books, especially with your child’s name in them! They do cost $38.99, but again – these are one-off books so they do cost more. Plus, they personalized! If you want to check them out a bit more, do visit their website. You can see the entire book there as well as more about how you can personalize the book. And for a few chuckles, check them out on Facebook – they have plenty of cute pictures up. For example, how to tell if your kid will be a singer. Or this one. Seriously! They’ve got someone hilarious working there! Oh, and check this out. They have a Coloring Commission template that you can download. It’s a super cute idea! You can also check them on Twitter, Pinterest or Instagram. Just don’t blame me if you lose some time looking around! Haha!

One of our reader’s is going to win one of these books! Make sure you have someone lined up that you can personalize this for! They really are so much fun! Open to Canada only, please. Contest closes September 14, 2016.
