Routine Natural Deodorant! ~Giveaway!

routine-8Fresh as a daisy. Smellin’ like roses. We all like smellin’ nice! But the reality is, we all need some help some days! Some of us need help every day. And it’s kind of nice if that help comes in a form that’s natural, easy to use, and nice smellin’!

routine-2I’d like to tell you about my new favorite deodorant! I’ve tried natural deodorants before. I’ve used the “stone” style. I’ve used ones made mainly from baking soda. Surprisingly, I’ve never tried making my own! Haha! In any case, there’s been something I didn’t quite like about each one. The stone was more difficult to use as you had to wet it each time – not something you can use without a sink nearby! One natural one I’ve tried worked well but tended to separate and so required more effort. Another one was a stick style, which was great, but I found I was smellier.  Oops! However! I now have a deodorant that meets all my requirements!

routine-5The name is Routine De-Odor-Cream. The deal is it’s all natural. There are 12 scents. And, because what works for one doesn’t work for the next, they have three different formulas! Which is awesome! The other thing that is fabulous is that they’re from Calgary, Alberta and all their deodorants are made right there! Yay for #madeinCanada products!

Wondering about those three formulas? First there is the Vegan Clay Formula, which comes in three scents. There is no beeswax in this recipe and the clay naturally absorbs sweat. The one big difference about this one is that the consistency will change with the temperature – it becomes harder in cold weather and softer in warm weather.

routine-3The second formula is the Beeswax Formula. This one also comes in three scents (one of which is unscented!). The consistency of this one does not change with temperature because the beeswax stabilizes the deodorant. I love that the beeswax comes from another Alberta company! There is no clay in this formula which means you get a sweeter, less earthy scent.

Lastly, there is the Clay AND Beeswax formula! This one comes in 6 scents. By the way, all the scents are made with natural essential and flavor oils. Now, with the clay being included again, this formula absorbs sweat. routine-4Also, because it includes the beeswax, the consistency doesn’t vary. This makes for the creamiest consistency of deodorant. Yes, you do need to use your finger to apply it. There are also two sub formulas under this variety. The one called “A Girl Named Sue” is their sensitive skin version and only includes half the baking soda compared to the regular formula. “The Curator” is for extra sensitive skin and has no baking soda at all! I have to say I really appreciate their ingredient listings for each formula/scent. After each ingredient name – for example kaolinite – they give the common name – kaolin clay. Or how about butyrospermum parkii? Yup, I’d never heard of it. Shea butter – oh, okay, now I know what they’re talking about!

How much do I need and do I need more since it’s all natural? The answer is – Not Much and No! They recommend a pea sized amount, however I find I really only need a smear on my finger per side. I was sent four of their sample containers (the size of the small round lip gloss containers) and have been using them a month and a half now and have yet to empty even one of them! The four I was sent were Sweet Jane, A Girl Named Sue, Bonita Applebom and Like a Boss. I think my favorite is Bonita Applebom – it smells like apple pie! Given the 4 samples I was sent, I ended up testing the sensitive skin version and three clay & beeswax ones. I find that they ALL work and they ALL work WELL! I’m super happy with them and I really like all the scents. None of them are strongly scented and yet a hint of the scent sticks around all day!routine-7

I highly recommend purchasing a sample size of deodorant along with a full size – they make fantastic travel deodorants! They’re the perfect size to tuck in your purse or your toiletry bag! Not sure what scent you’ll like best? You can purchase all 12 scents, which will last for 3-6 months, for $42.99 right now! You’re probably also wondering how expensive the full size deodorants are. After all, they’re natural AND they routine-6work! Sure, they’re not as cheap as your run-of-the-mill-aluminum-filled-toxic-for-your-armpits deodorants that are on the shelf of every department store. But remember these important points. 1.) They’re HEALTHY for you! Not toxic. 2.) They’re locally made in Canada! By real people (real nice people, actually!) 3.) The scents are all natural, not chemical alternatives. 4.) They work! The answer is – they cost $28 for 50 mL, which again is about a 3-6 month supply. I’m confident that I will get 5-6 months out of each container as I don’t need a lot. That’s less than $6 a month for me to smell nice! Just ask my friends, it’s worth it! Haha! Remember, nobody likes smelly friends! Tee hee!

Wondering how to get some for yourself? Check out their website to see if there’s a retailer near you that carries it! The other easy way is to purchase online. Want to know when there are new scents or new formulas? I’m willing to bet Facebook is THE best place to watch for that! You can also keep an eye on Twitter and Instagram.
