Potions All Natural Personal Care Products ~ Discount!

We all want to make changes to improve our lives, this time of year always has most of us thinking about New Year resolutions and trying desperately to keep them… many of us resolve to loose weight, get active, save money… the list goes on.. how many of you resolved to treat your skin better? As an adult (let’s try to forget those joyful teenage acne years), I have fairly low maintenance skin and I’ll admit, I take it for granted. Its only been in recent years, well basically since I became a mom, that I started to pay a bit more attention to what I’m putting in and on my body.

Kelsey, the creator of Potions all natural personal care products had a similar experience. She had an interest in essential oils and their healing properties for some time but 4 years ago, when she found out she was pregnant and started to prepare for the arrival of her daughter things really started to change for her. “I was researching baby products and discovered how toxic so many products were so I decided I’d take my new knowledge in essential oils and my passion for Eco-friendly living and make my own!” Of course she didn’t set out on her own knowledge, Kelsey and her husband Clay continually educate themselves on essential oils and their safety and are careful to consult with certified aromatherapists and naturalists when needing further education and/or clarification. Please keep in mind this is not a post choosing a side in the discussion for or against essential oils.

Kelsey showed up at my door with a big box of yummy smelling skin products for me to try and I’m not sure who was more excited about it, her or me, her passion for the products she makes was immediately evident!

Lucky for me, Della loves to give foot rubs so of course the French Vanilla Body Cream was one of the first things we tried! With a base of almond oil, bees wax and aloe vera gel, its not greasy and absorbs quickly which is a big bonus for me, no greasy finger prints…at least not from lotion! It seems to go far too, we have used plenty of it and have hardly made a dent in it, I guess that means there are still lots more foot rubs in my future!

Unlike the body cream, the Muscle Rub is almost all gone, my hubby has a physically demanding job and is often sore at the end of the day. It has become routine for him to request a back rub with the muscle rub instead of popping a couple pain killers. This too is fast absorbing so no sticking to the sheets or clothes, it has a nice subtle smell too! Kelsey gives a really informative break down on the website about all the oils in the muscle rub and their healing properties. Judging by the testimonials on her website and Kelsey’s own experience with the muscle rub, I think its safe to say this is one of her most popular products!

I think Della’s favorite was was the lip balm, we sampled Vanilla Mint, Chocolate Mint and the new Cherry Kiwi (they all smelled amazing),  she was tickled to be able to have her own! I personally loved the Vanilla Mint, I’ve never felt lip balm go on so smoothly, it felt “just like butter” for lack of a better term! Maybe it’s the combination of coconut oil and avocado oil, I don’t know, but it is lovely!

The Anti-Aging Evening Oil took a little convincing for me to try, not because of anything with the oil itself but my skin can be a bit oily naturally and I had a hard time with the idea of putting “oil” on my face. However, I was pleasantly surprised, it absorbed in a short time and smells really nice. Kelsey mentions on her website the importance of preparation and prevention when the skin is still young too. I am a little over 2 years older than my husband and he is always teasing me about how “ancient” I am, that won’t last long with this powerful potion in my pocket! :p

As I mentioned before I am prone to neglect my skin so I would be the last the spend oodles of time on it and I don’t like anything oily on my face… talk about a tough customer! Facial moisturizers have always been difficult for me, I was impressed with Potions face cream, I applied it shortly before going to bed expecting to wake up with a greasy face in the morning but instead it felt perfectly normal only softer! I think I just might have found the one!!

Kelsey and Clay are committed to keeping their ecological footprint minimal so they offer great recycling incentives with their containers and recycle packaging from suppliers into their own packaging. They are also happy to do custom blends to meet all your skin care needs.

  9. Kelsey I’m amazed at how well the muscle rub worked on my arthritic hands. I purchased the rub from you at a sale in Dundurn but only started using it about 4 days ago. Last night I slept through the night and this morning woke and my hands weren’t locked up. Thanks for a wonderful product.
