DK Discovery Day ~ 100 Women Who Made History~ GIVEAWAY!

History used to be one of my favorite topics when I was in high school. Perhaps it was the fact that I had a great teacher…or perhaps there’s something about history that simply caught my attention…probably a little bit of both. 😉 My son also enjoys history – especially if he can read about it. Most times I do not even have to remind him to read it. I just ‘conveniently’ leave the books laying around in the living room, and the next thing I know he’s on the couch reading a history book. 😉

One of the most recent books that I’ve ‘conveniently’ left lying around is 100 Women Who Made History from DK Canada. This book is geared specifically for kids and takes them on a tour of the past which uncovers the stories of 100 of the women and girls who have helped to shape the modern world.

This includes ladies such as Emily Dickinson, Joan of Arc, Eleanor Roosevelt and many more. As we’ve come to expect with our DK Canada books, there are plenty of pictures and fun little illustrations to help make history come alive. I found that the information included in the book was just enough to keep our kids interested and engaged…but not too much that the ‘history lesson’ becomes drawn out and boring.

100 Women Who Made History is yet another great title from DK Canada! Be sure to also check out their other history books.

  10. 100 women who made history is the one I would like to read the most, and then 100 people who made history, and of course the inventions and events too. As so much of the focus in this world is on the achievement of men, reading about women comes as a refreshment and inspiration!
