I love snacks, especially when they’re of the salty variety! I’m way more inclined to keep nibbling on a bag of salty yummies than on a bag of sweet yummies! So beware of putting any bags of chips or salted nuts or such like near me – you might not get any back! Okay, fine, I do have *some* self control! Haha! That being said, if I’m having a snack that I know is overly tempting, I do portion control – then put the rest in the freezer or back in the cupboard so that I can’t keep reaching for more!
Today I get to tell you about Zak Organics! They’re a fabulous #MadeInCanada company, based in Saskatchewan! And not only are #MadeInCanada, but they’re also #GrownInCanada! Yes! They are all about yummy, crunchy pea snacks! First off, they’re a fourth generation family-run farm. Secondly, they grow organic foods. Thirdly, they’re taking whole green peas and make them into a fabulous snack. Seriously. Fabulous. I love the crunch of these! They’re big peas too, more like the size for regular peas, not the baby size you can purchase in the frozen section of the store. At the moment, there are four yummy flavors! Garden Herb – which has a hint of dill in it that I LOVE! Smoky BBQ – this one is fabulous in soups, especially like a tomato soup where the barbecue flavor fits right it! Sea Salt and Lime – remember that whole nibbling thing – I could just keep eating these! Sweet Cocoa – this is their newest flavor and it’s definitely different – as in – not the flavor I’d expect. I’m used to expecting savory flavors, so the sweet cocoa is just different, but I’m not gonna lie, it’s pretty good too!
As a Mom with kids in school, I’m always looking for snacks that I can send with the kids to school. Let’s face it, I just don’t always succeed at getting all the baking done that I’d like to! But these pea snacks are packed full of fibre and also give a good dose of iron, plus the seasonings are organic and real! No MSG here!! They’re also gluten-free. And what’s even better? Head to the Shop and take note that you can purchase the little snack bags in a variety pack! You can pick up 12 single serve bags, including each of the three savory flavors for just $14.99. That’s not bad considering it’s good healthy food inside! And they’re the perfect size to take to school! My daughter likes these more than my son and she squirrelled away the majority of the Garden Herb and Sea Salt & Lime ones! You can also purchase the bigger 112g or 140g bags for $5.99. We’ve been nibbling away on these for a few weeks now and haven’t managed to finish a bag yet, so don’t go thinking that they’re too small of bags!
These yummy little nuggets are great in soup, as I mentioned, but they also have just the perfect crunch for tossing on a salad. And I like tossing some in a bag and taking them along with me as a healthy little snack that fills me up quick. Of course, that said bag also helps curb the continual nibbling could occur! I love the fact that these are Saskatchewan grown and produced! I’m afraid I’m going to be gravitating to the “pea aisle” instead of the “chip aisle” from now on. I totally could take these over potato chips! Hmm, I wonder if they’ll come out with ketchup flavored ones? Haha!
