Enviro Glass Straws! ~Giveaway

I don’t know how you feel about plastic, but I feel as though the more I hear about it and the more I read about it, the less I want in my house! Especially when it comes to anything that we put food or drink into! It doesn’t seem worth the risk of finding out that what was thought to be safe simply isn’t! And I don’t think I’m alone in this! It really bothers me to use plastic water bottles. I can *taste* the plastic if the water has been in the bottle for any length of time! For awhile, we all had stainless steel water bottles with straws for drinking – which to my way of thinking is the only way to go with kids! However, as lids have broken and as it’s been increasingly difficult to find stainless steel ones with straws, two of our kids have plastic ones at the moment. I’m on the hunt for new water bottles!

However, I digress. Kind of. Around home, I always try to keep a glass of water handy to encourage me to drink more. I never seem to drink enough so any encouragement to drink more is a good thing! However, there is always a risk of spilling said glass of water. And since I use a laptop for work and since said glass is usually close to said laptop, well, it can be a risky business! Especially when kids are around!

I have a solution! Enviro Glass sent me a purty little package with three items in it and they’re my new favorites! You see, I’ve been using a mason jar mug for my water lately. I love that it has a handle and it’s always been the glass I’ve gravitated to when picking a water glass at other people’s places! But look at it now! It has a lid! And it has this beautiful glass straw going through the rubberized hole!

Let me tell you a bit more about Enviro Glass! First – #MadeInCanada! They are created on Vancouver Island and were born out of the desire to “teach their children to tread gently on the Earth.” You see, Tyler, the creator of the straws, is a glass blower! The straws are made from borosilicate glass which is the strongest commercially available glass. This glass can be used with both hot and cold beverages, it’s dishwasher safe (though keep in mind, it can be hard to get a straw clean in the dishwasher!) and they should last for life! There are two sizes available – 9.5 mm and 12 mm. The 12 mm is more suitable for your thick drinks like smoothies and milkshakes. They also come in three different lengths and two styles. There are 6″, 8″ and 10″ long straws and you can either pick a straight straw or a bent straw. For my glass, I much prefer the bent straw!

What about that lid I mentioned? Yup, this is one of the accessories you can purchase to go along with your straw! They are a stainless steel lid that converts any mason jar into a travel mug! These are highly recommended for anyone giving these straws to their children – it will reduce the likelihood of two things – one – that the kids will play with and potentially break the straw; and two – the chances of spillage! Fabulous!

There are several other accessories. One very necessary one is the cleaning brush – it just makes cleaning the straw after a smoothie SO much easier! You can also pick up an On the Go Cloth Carrier for your straws so you can take your straws with you!

Now, what about pricing you’re wondering? Well, considering that these straws really should last you for life, so long as you take care of them and don’t attempt to break them over your knee, I think the prices are really very, very reasonable! They are priced from $7.99 – $9.99 depending on the length, the diameter and the style. I like the combo packs – you receive two straws and a cleaning brush in these (which is what I was sent – it’s a great way to start your glass straw collection!) and they are priced from $17.99 – $21.99. The combo packs give you a savings of almost $2 over purchasing each item individually.

I’m lovin’ my new style of drinking glass. If I tip it, there won’t be a huge puddle. Nothing can land in my later. I can walk around with it and not worry about spilling. I don’t mind reading and drinking when I use this cup! Haha! Make sure you head over to Enviro Glass and check them out on Facebook – show them some love by giving them a like! You also should check out Tyler’s glass blowing website and Facebook – I’d love to visit someday and watch him and his partner at work!

Enviro Glass is giving away one combo pack and an Enviro Lid – the same as I received! Like I said, it’s a fabulous way to start your glass straw collection! Please use the entry form below, open to Canada only, and closes on April 8, 2017.
