Any health conscious readers out there? Do you enjoy creating meals and products at home from scratch and skip all the convenience food aisles at the grocery store? Excuse me while I raise my own hand here. 😉 If you share these things in common with me then you are going to love English Creek Farms.
English Creek Farms is a family owned and operated business. Steve and Delia take great pride in their products. They use organic ingredients whenever possible and all plant or animal products grown or raised on their farm are natural and chemical free. Delia is full of knowledge on how to nourish a body with food and herbs and she is amazing in the kitchen. Want some yummy and healthy recipes? Follow her on Facebook!
I received three great products to try from English Creek Farms: the Elderberry Syrup Kit, the Chai Tea Concentrate Kit, and the Tangerine and Coco Lip Balm. First off I have to say that the Elderberry Syrup Kit came at the perfect time as my family was fighting off illness that week. Elderberries are known to help boost the immune system and have been used medicinally for hundreds of years. You could go to your nearest health food store and buy some elderberry syrup but it is going to be a lot pricier than making your own syrup at home. All you need is water, honey (I prefer raw honey) and an Elderberry Syrup Kit. The kit includes yummy things such as elderberries (obviously), ginger root, cinnamon, whole cloves, and star anise pods. All ingredients are 100% organic, responsibly farmed or wild harvested. The bag is also completely compostable! Talk about good for your body and good for the environment! 🙂 I think my favourite part of creating my 750ml of elderberry syrup was the simmering. Ahhhhhh, nothing beats a hot pot of simmering spices on the stove. Everyone in my family enjoys taking their daily dose of elderberry syrup (well, except for my picky eight year old. Grrrr).
The Chai Tea Concentrate was equally as fun to make. Maybe I have a thing for simmering spicy goodness on my stove…. The tea is available in either red roobois or assam and once the concentrate is prepared you mix it with milk and enjoy it either cold or hot. To make the 40 ounces of concentrate you need water, vanilla extract and your choice of sweetener (we used raw honey). The rooibios is naturally caffeine free and assam is caffeinated. Unfortunately I had to swear off caffeine years ago due to migraines so my wonderful husband got to try out the chai tea concentrate made with assam tea. I guess it’s only fair that he gets to help out with a review. 🙂 My hubby is a “coffee in the morning” kind of guy. He will admit that he has quite enjoyed his chai tea during his commute to work in the mornings. I had to have a sip to try it out too…..I have always been a big chai tea fan. It is dreamy and I plan to order myself a kit with roobois very soon. Besides being delicious this tea is also good for you! Who would have guessed? Chai tea is known to have healing benefits due to its power group of spices like cinnamon, clove, ginger, black pepper, cardamom and nutmeg. The amazing combo of tea and spices can improve digestion and circulation, relax the mind, fight inflammation and boost the immune system. Anytime something yummy doubles as a tool to keep me healthy I am one happy gal.
Last but not least is English Creek Farm’s Lip Balm. There are three kinds to chose from: Unflavoured Soothing Coco, Tangerine and Coco and Peppermint and Coco. My family got to try the Tangerine and Coco and mmmmmm, it smells so good. There is nothing hard to pronounce or questionable in this lip balm. The ingredients are bees wax, organic cocoa butter, organic coconut oil , grass fed beef tallow, tangerine essential oil, rose hip see oil and vitamin E. Simple, natural and amazing. I am a bit of a lip balm addict and am also incredibly picky about which brands I use. I have to say that this one is now one of my favourites. 🙂
English Creek Farms have a wide array of products on their website. You will find Nourishing Hot Cocoa Mix, organic hand made soaps, raw honey, Vanilla Latte Sugar Scrub, jewelry and stamped leather wallets. Some items are only available seasonally and some are occasionally out of stock but this is only due to the fact that the Trenholms make most of the products themselves at their farm. No mass production here. I love supporting family run businesses. How about you? 😉
Would you like to try out a couple products from English Creek Farms? The Trenholms would like to gift one reader from Canada or the US an Elderberry Syrup Kit and a Lip Balm of your choice. Contest ends May 3rd, 2017.
