Scholastic Monday ~ Make Your Own Soap!

I remember just loving “crafty stuff” when I was a kid! Knitting, sewing, drawing, fabric paints, friendship bracelets, cross stitch, you name it and I probably tried it! Then came college, and a job, and life in general, so my time to do crafty stuff got a lot less. Now as a mom to three girls who love crafts, I’m so excited to be back into the “craft world!” In some ways, it’s even more fun now as I get to watch and join in as my girls craft and create!

Klutz kits from Scholastic are PERFECT for kids or tweens and there are LOTS to choose from! Our latest was more of a DIY style of craft kit from Klutz: Make Your Own Soap! This kit comes with everything you need to make 10 colorful, sparkly, sudsy soaps. These aren’t just ANY ol’ soaps either. They are extra special with the glitter and skin-safe stickers you can use on them….and of course, the custom mold shapes are a ton of fun too! One of our favorites is the adorable ‘fish-in-a-bag’ design…so fun! The book that comes along with the kit has easy to follow directions and also includes some fun facts about the chemistry of clean and some other simple kitchen science experiments to keep your kids learning and loving to learn. Of course, Make Your Own Soap also includes everything you’ll need to make soap. You’ll receive 20 blocks of clear soap base, soap molds, color tablets, cosmetic grade glitter, skin safe soap stickers and all the other little tools and accessories you’ll need to make some of the cutest, most adorable soap creations you’ve ever seen!
