Giddy Yo! ~Discount!

I’ve never been a chocolate fanatic – mainly because I simply didn’t enjoy the cheap chocolates that are fanned out across our grocery store checkouts! My theory always has been, if you’re giving me chocolate, give me *GOOD* chocolate! Well, I’m afraid I’ve been eating a bit more chocolate lately because I’ve discovered that I like dark chocolate, low sugar chocolate and ….well…..because I was sent some chocolate!

Enter Giddy Yo! It’s all #MadeInCanada, straight from Orangeville, ON! Enter 69% to 100% dark chocolate! Yes, you read that right, you can even get a sugar free chocolate bar that isn’t bitter and is smooth! I love their flavour options too, they have everything from Mint to Raspberry to Chai Spice to Limon Salt to Sweet Vanilla to Chaga to Orange………you get the picture! If you can’t find a flavour you like I’d be shocked! I was sent the Limon Salt, Raspberry, Mint and Vanilla Salt and I like them all! I do enjoy the sweet/salty combinations so I’m thoroughly enjoying both the Vanilla Salt and the Limon Salt variations. I’ve always loved chocolate and mint together so it’s definitely no hardship to have a bit of that bar as well! And the Raspberry one has a nifty tang to it! Oh, and what I love about these high cacao bars is that I’m completely fine with having ONE square! I think it’s partly because they’re not high sugar – one square doesn’t start a sugar craving that leads to another square and another square! Given that I only need one square, given that they’re organic, given that they’re not filled with a bunch of filler ingredients, given that they’re low sugar, all means that the $5.49 per bar price tag seems much more reasonable! This is quality chocolate folks!

Don’t be fooled into thinking that chocolate bars is all that Giddy Yo offers! Oh no, they have much, much more than that! Head to the Cacao shop and discover cacao butter, cacao paste, cacao powder, cacao nibs and cacao beans! Phew, did you get all that? Oh, and you can purchase them in the smaller 454 g (1 lb) packages, or you can also purchase them in the *big* 10 lb packages! Woo hoo! You can do the same with their chocolate bars, but don’t tell anyone I told you to go buy their mixed 20 pack. Or their 1 kg bricks! Tee hee. I’m sure those are meant more for wholesale customers, rather than for those of us who would be happy to just take a bite straight off the brick!? Anyway, back to the cacao. I’ve been looking at healthier options for chocolate chips and such and cacao nibs is one of them! Did you know that a cacao nib is basically just a crushed cacao bean – nothing added! Think the kids will miss regular chocolate chips if I just swap them out for cacao nibs? They’re super chocolatey!

Moving along, we head over to the Superfoods area. Once again, there’s no shortage of options! What’s your favourite superfood? Golden berries? Coffee beans? Chlorella? Vanilla Bean Powder? Blueberry Powder? Goji Berries? Maca Powder? Yes, really, they have lots of options! And, again, they have the 454 g option or the bulk option! We were sent their Banana Spears and, oh my, are they Yummy! I always keep banana chips around as the kids quite enjoy them. However, these spears are not the same at all! First off, they’re made from the Ecuadorian red banana. Secondly, they’re not crunchy, they’re chewy! And they really do taste like banana bread, just like it says on their webpage! I could quite cheerfully sit down and eat a whole bag of them! And my kids would be vying for their share at the same time!

The last item that I was sent is their one Body product! It’s called Love Butter and is “Organic, Vegan, Edible & Cruelty Free Body Care”. It’s a moisturizer, it melts at skin temperature, it can be used from everything from baby bums to makeup remover to massager lotion! Use it for sunscreen or for burn relief. Or put it in your coffee! Wowzers, that’s what you call “all-purpose”!! And yes, it smells delightfully of chocolate!! And if you use it as hand lotion, it only takes a tiny bit! You can order this lovely butter in either a 100 or 200 mL container. It’s $17.99 for the small and $24.99 for the large. But keep in mind, you don’t need much when you use it!

All of the Giddy Yo products are organic or wild harvested, they’re direct and fairly traded, and they work hard to find products that are grown in healthy remote environments. They’re also “untouched by genetically modified organisms, the practice of hybridization, and chemical solvents and metals regularly used in the practice of bringing foods to market.” That’s a pretty impressive list! It’s also a lot of very good reasons to choose Giddy Yo!

Want to keep up with everything that’s happening at Giddy Yo!? Follow them on Facebook. Beware though, it’s full of yummy inspiration, yummy recipes, and sale notices!  Ready to step out on a limb and try some high cacao, low sugar chocolates that will become your new favourite food (and remember, it’s healthy when you skip all the sugar!)?  You just might find these bars in your local health food shop, so look around!  Better yet, take a peek at their Store Locator and find out for sure which store to head for!

I myself am a white or milk chocolate fan, I find dark chocolate way to bitter for my taste buds. 🙂 I’ve taken a peek at their site but I must say that I find this chocolate very expensive.
