Scholastic Monday ~ Twinkle

Twinkle, Twinkle, Little Star is a song that is well loved by preschoolers! I’ve played it for our kids countless times on the piano and they love to sing it whenever it comes to mind. So, it’s no surprise that Twinkle by Nick Bland was a book that was instantly loved by our younger kids.

Twinkle tells the story of Penny Pasketti who is determined to help her new friend, Little Star, make it back home to the sky. The book is filled with fabulous imaginative thoughts such as Penny staring into space and pretending the stars were her friends and that every twinkle was a smile or a secret or something equally as wonderful. One night, as she is gazing into the beautfiul night sky, a shooting start lands in her garden and she names it Little Star. The night is instantly filled with friendship and fun…until it is Penny’s bedtime. Now…how do you make a star fall up? Do you know? Penny is not about to give up and she uses all her resources to make sure that Little Star ‘falls up’ into the sky.

The simple, imaginative nature of this book is so refreshing! It makes a perfect bedtime story…or anytime story. It’s charming, and sweet and all things twinkly. 😉
