Table Top Chefs Pizzarette! ~Discount!

Let’s have a show of hands. Who doesn’t like pizza!? It’s such a well-loved food and has often been the food of last-minute suppers, birthday parties, and Friday night family night! Growing up, considering we lived in the country and there was no option for pizza delivery, I have fond memories of making homemade pizza! Mom would make her pizza dough and us kids would help cut up meat and grate cheese and then build the pizzas. And oh, those pizzas were SO much better than any store bought or even any fresh pizza delivery! So, it’s no surprise that my household also loves making homemade pizza with homemade crust and the kids love chipping in to slice meat, grate cheese and create yummy pizzas!

There are times though that I’d like a few toppings on my pizza that the rest of them don’t care for – like mushrooms. Or spinach. Enter the Pizzarette by Table Top Chefs! This fun and unique pizza oven means that I can have whatever toppings I want on my pizza and I don’t have to share with anyone! And how much fun is this for kids!? They get to create their own mini pizza, put it in the oven and watch it cook. Let’s just say we had lots of fun testing this unit out! We discovered that our pizza dough recipe makes enough for each of us to make two mini pizzas. That works out pretty well!

How does the pizzarette work? Well, it’s a domed pizza oven. The top is terra cotta and you can lift it off (be careful, it’s heavy!) for cleaning purposes and for oopsies while baking pizzas! Each model comes with black plastic spatulas for placing the pizzas in the oven. It also comes with a stainless steel spatula for removing the cooked pizza. There’s a handy pizza dough circle for cutting out your pizza dough into the perfect size circles. Once the oven is heated up, from the oven element above and below the cooking surface, it takes between 5-10 minutes for your miniature pizzas to cook. Pretty cool, huh?

We did discover that there are a few tips you do need to follow! First allow the full time recommended for the oven to heat up! Given that the lid on this oven is terra cotta and is heated by an element similar to an oven element, the terra cotta needs time to heat up in order to bake your pizzas evenly and throughly! Secondly, don’t do like I did. Don’t decide to pile your toppings up good and high! Keep your pizzas simple and not too thick. Otherwise you’ll have burnt cheese and the inside might not be so well cooked….trust me, I know these things! From experience, of course! Also, be sure you flour your spatula well so that your pizza dough doesn’t stick. We found this to be particularly important on the second pizza you make, if it’s going to sit for a few minutes while waiting for your first to cook.

The awesome part about this pizzarette is that you can simply put all your pizza toppings in bowls and plop them on the table! No need to make a pizza – let everyone make their own. The downside to that, of course, is that once you’ve all made your pizzas, you have to chit chat for awhile before your first pizza is out of the oven! This isn’t a bad thing, because we could all stand to talk to our family members more, methinks! And while you’re waiting, you can make your second pizza creation so that it’s ready to pop into the oven as soon as your first one comes out! And I love the fact that each person can put whatever toppings they want on their pizza……creativity can abound! Also, if you have any dietary restrictions, you can easily adapt your pizza to your own needs!

I do have one recommendation for Table Top Chefs. I would like to see the base ring that holds the dome made out of slightly heavier material. The dome on the 6-person model is *quite* heavy and, as such, has actually made small marks and dents in the ring that it sits on. I think if they chose a slightly heavier grade of material, this problem would be eliminated. However, given that this issue only affects the aesthetics of the unit and not its functionality, it’s not a critical problem.

The pizzarette comes in two different sizes. There is the 4-person edition that is regularly $159.99 US, on sale for $139.99 US. Then there are two different 6-person models – one with the regular base and one with a cooking stone base to set your pizzas on. The model with the cooking stone is regularly $259.99 US but is on sale as well right now for $209.99 US. The regular 6 person model is priced at $179.99 US.

This is definitely not an appliance that belongs in every kitchen. First, it takes up quite a lot of space. Secondly, it’s not a “necessary” appliance. However, if you’re looking for a fun appliance that your kids will love, I can bet this will fit the bill! Also, it makes a fun option for when you have company over!  If you’d like to keep up with the latest updates on the Pizzarette, head over to Facebook and give them a Like!  You can also follow along on Twitter, Pinterest and Instagram! They also have some videos over on YouTube, including how they’re made, which is kind of cool!

Need one of these nifty machines for yourself?  You can purchase them directly from the Table Top Chefs website and I have an exclusive discount code to go along with your purchase!  If you use the code “GLIMPSE15” you will receive 15% off your order!  AND, if you order either the 4 or 6-person models (not the cooking stone model) you will receive FREE SHIPPING on your order!  Currently, they don’t have stock of the cooking stone model in Canada, so while you will receive the 15% discount on that model, the free shipping will not apply. And I mentioned, right now two of the three models are on sale, so it’s a great time to pick one up!
