PlayMonster Ultra Dash! ~Giveaway!

Awhile back you might remember me doing a review on PlayMonster and two of their products – Yeti in my Spaghetti and the Wonder Crew doll. Well, I’m back to tell you about one of their brand new products, called Ultra Dash! It’s for ages six and up, although my four year old wasn’t about to be stopped from playing it! Haha! Must keep up to older siblings! So Ultra Dash consists of 6 game pieces – 5 “targets” and one “tagger”. The targets can be laid out however the kids decide to do it. They can be in a random order on a table or spread further apart on the floor so that there’s some running required. There are three different game modes: Beat the Clock, Target Tally, and Relay Race. The cool part of this game is that you can play it by yourself, you can play against opponents, or you can even have two teams that play against each other!

The essence of every game is to “tag” the targets in the order that the tagger tells you to and do it as fast as possible. To give you a bit of an idea of just how crazy this could be, I’ll include the commercial for it……..

Yes, it’s critical to not have any breakables around where they race occurs! Haha! Actually, thus far, my kids haven’t created quite such a demanding course – it’s been more just within 5 feet of them on the floor. However, come winter time, when the-kids-are-going-stir-crazy-because-it’s-too-cold-to-go-outside hits, I think I’ll have to set this up with a bit more running involved and have them go at it. Wear them out before bedtime!

One of the fun things about Ultra Dash is that it’s entirely based on colours. So yes, my four-year-old CAN play it because there’s no reading involved. Sure, her times will be slower because she can’t run as quick (hmmm, might have to include one target in a small space to give her an advantage!) but at least she can be included in the game! Now that my 8-year-old can read, he really wants to be included in adult games – so I like it when there are games that all the kids can play together without one having a huge advantage over another.

Our kids love this game. Sometimes I’ll hear the beeping of the tagger and know there’s going to be some bouncing and banging coming right up! It’s actually nicer to play it on carpet, if you’re not making a big course, because then it’s a wee bit quieter for the parents! And you know how it is, when there’s a time to beat, things get a bit more rambunctious!

Head over to the PlayMonster site to check out all their toys and games! They have some really unique ones! Doesn’t this one look fun? Sign up for their email updates to be “in the know” of new products. You can also follow them on Facebook, and Twitter!
