My Magic Mud! ~Giveaway!

About a year ago, a toothpaste company came across my radar. I was intrigued. However, at that time they were working hard on the necessary paperwork to bring their product to Canada. We decided that we would wait until the product was on Canadian shelves before telling you about it! I’m delighted to say that I have seen this product on the shelves of stores like Nutters and organic food stores! Introducing…… My Magic Mud!

Yes, you read that right. Mud. Haha. Sometimes I like reviewing companies because I get a kick out of their name! I have 3 kids, ages 8 and under. I see mud…..regularly. And somehow, lots of it gets in the bathroom as well! (Where’s that outdoor shower when we need it!?) This mud, though, I’m inviting into my bathroom to stay! First up, yes, this toothpaste is black! Hence the mud name. Secondly, the black colour comes from charcoal. Thirdly, this toothpaste (and tooth powder) was created because the creator, Jessica, has a daughter, Allie. Allie was born with a condition that caused her to be susceptible to cavities and tooth sensitivity – which meant she visited the dentist more than the doctor in her first 7 years! Jessica set out to come up with some sort of product that would help ease her daughter’s symptoms. Want to know what’s totally awesome? Allie’s tooth sensitivity has vanished, and her teeth have never been whiter! Now that, my friends, is a successful Mama! Before Jessica knew it, she was handing out samples to her friends – but when they started asking for refills – she realized that she had a business opportunity on her hands!

The tooth powder includes ingredients like activated coconut shell charcoal, calcium bentonite clay, organic orange peel extract and organic mint extract. Huh, they’re all ingredients that I can pronounce and I know what they are! Nifty! If you’re interested in reading more about what each ingredient does, head over here to take a read. So what else do you need to know? Well, I’d like include a couple snippets from the “info booklet” that comes with the tooth powder. It made me chuckle – multiple times! It’s also worth checking out their comical rap video!

You might need to relearn how to brush your teeth. If you tend to get toothpaste everywhere, your Mom might get real upset with you if you get charcoal everywhere! It doesn’t clean so well off some items! In that case, start brushing in the shower! And please, no spitting! Follow the instructions and just let it fall out. I’ve found quite a few grey spatters around my bathroom since we’ve started using My Magic Mud! Haha! Also, I just have to say, the mini “shovel” that comes with the powder is just stinkin’ cute! Now, I have to confess, I haven’t yet gotten my kids to use this toothpaste or tooth powder. *gasp* I know, but I haven’t had the energy to retrain them (ha!) to make less mess when they’re brushing! And they have electric toothbrushes, which means the splatter factor can be quite high!  However, given that I’m not a fan of most commercial toothpastes, I’m going to throw out their other toothpaste and start them on this one!

Oh wait, you’re wondering what’s up with this tooth powder versus toothpaste? Ah yes, well you see, it was the powder that Jessica first created. However, I would guess that most people are so used to toothpaste that the market was immediately there for a toothpaste that was similar to the powder! And the four flavours of toothpaste – all come from essential oils! They also contain tea tree oil – which is a fantastic antibacterial, antimicrobial, antiseptic, and antiviral oil! Now you’re wondering which you should buy? Well, Jessica actually recommends using both. Use the toothpaste in the morning and use the tooth powder at night. No, you don’t need both products, however, they work well together. The powder comes in a 3 oz container, which will give you approximately 150 uses, so should last you about 5 months if you use it once a day! The price for the tooth powder on Well.ca is $24.99, so $5 a month is pretty decent! The toothpaste comes in at $13.29 and is a 113 g tube (I would say it’s approximately the same size as most other tubes out there) and remember – a little goes a long ways! I purchased a tube the first time I saw it in a store up here, which is several months ago now, and my husband and I have yet to use up the first tube!

I get excited when I see people like Jessica filling a gap in the market with a product that’s healthy, safe and, most importantly, one that works! I love that I know what all the ingredients are. I love that she includes essential oils, because I believe there is a lot of benefit to using them! And I love that her company is based on a very personal experience! Please head over to My Magic Mud and take a look around. You can also visit them on Facebook and give them a like! Or Instagram. And Twitter.
