Scholastic Monday ~ Picture the Sky

The sky is one of my favorite parts of living on the Canadian prairies. The sky is ever-changing, amazing, and fascinating! Barbara Reid is a fabulous Canadian author who has written a new title that features our sky!

Picture the Sky by Barbara Reid is perfect for children around the ages of 3-8 years old. I found it was especially good for our younger ones with its colorful pictures and the short, lyrical text on each page.

We love that it focuses on something real…something we see every day…yet something that we often fail to take time to notice the beauty of. The sky tells us many stories, yet we rarely take the time to watch the clouds, look at the stars or enjoy a sunrise or sunset. Picture the Sky from Scholastic is a simple book, but with lots of imagination and feeling put into it. It’s a great one to read to your children!

I wish we had a nice blue sky just now, it’s cloudy, has been raining an awful lot, we’ve had snow already and it’s a mere 5C. I’m just not ready yet for this and here I was hoping for an Indian summer, sigh!

  8. Great illustrations as well!
