DK Discovery Day ~ 13 1/2 Incredible Things… ~ GIVEAWAY!

You know….when I was in school, I have to admit….I didn’t always enjoy learning. 😉 Although there are always going to be some subjects or parts of life-learning that are not as fun as other parts, I firmly believe that if you can find a way to make it more fun or at least applicable to our lives in some way, that what you are trying to teach will stick better than if it is just read from a textbook or taught through a monotone lecture. That is precisely why we LOVE DK Canada so much!!!

As a mom, I love to make learning fun for our kids. The thing is, that as a mom, I don’t have time to plan all sorts of amazing fun games, activities, experiments, etc. for everything we learn. So then is when I turn to places like DK Canada when they also believe in making learning fun! DK Canada has a GIANT selection of books that are top-notch. We have quite a few of their books on our shelves – some non-fiction and some fiction. There has never been a book that our children have not enjoyed. In fact, I don’t even have to MAKE them read these books. I just leave them laying around….and they pick them up and read them. THEN…they come and tell me stuff that I didn’t even know…like “Did you know that flies have taste buds on their feet?” No wonder they are always walking all over my food!!

13½ Incredible Things You Need to Know About Everything is one of the latest releases from DK Canada and it is a myth-busting visual encyclopedia that will have kids soaking up the facts about all sorts of topics ranging from gemstones to scorpions and more. Each topic has 13 things they need to know about it and of course, one “half fact” as well. 🙂

The book is packed full of amazing images and fact snippets that are short enough for kids to read and remember. And they really are VERY interesting facts – I’ve already learned a lot from my kids sharing their newly discovered knowledge with me…and I haven’t even read the book myself yet (but I’m a little jealous of all the cool facts they’ve learned, so it has been added to my list of books to read!)

13½ Incredible Things You Need to Know About Everything from DK Canada is a perfect gift for curious young minds. It’s a fabulous way to get their wheels turning and to satisfy their thirst for knowledge…or to create a bigger thirst for more knowledge!
