DK Discovery Day ~ Did You Know? Animals

Kids are often full of questions. I know that I’ve certainly been asked a lot of questions since having my own children….and yep…a good number of these questions were things that I did not have the answers to! Like….how do chameleons change color? And….do fish sleep? Although I may not always have the answers to all of the questions I get asked, I must say, that I love having kids who enjoy asking questions and I also love having the opportunity to show them how to find answers to their questions!

Recently I’ve really been enjoying the Did You Know? Animals book from DK Canada. It has answers to more than 200 questions. There are questions in here that I’ve never thought to ask – yet, the answers are intriguing and so very interesting! Our kids have been thoroughly enjoying this book as well. It’s the perfect way for children to discover all kinds of amazing facts about a wide range of animals.

Did You Know? Animals is especially appealing to children ages 5-9 years. However, our 11 year old also really enjoyed it and even our 3 year old little guy likes to sit and listen to me read about the animals. The crystal clear and very lifelike images for each animals definitely helps to capture the attention of younger children. For the older kids there are also fun little “Quick Quiz” boxes at the top of each spread. It’s a great way to encourage your readers to find the answers for themselves.

Did You Know? Animals has been one of our favorite books on animals that we’ve found thus far. I love the simple layout, the fun and intriguing questions, and the age-appropriate facts and details. It’s definitely a book that we are proud to have on our bookshelf!
