Scholastic Monday ~ The Enormous Suitcase

Robert Munsch is a very popular author here in Canada! His stories have the reputation of being extravagant, bigger than life and full of things that make kids giggle and parents let out a groan or two (all in good fun, of course 😉 ).  The Enormous Suitcase by Robert Munsch is one of the latest releases at Scholastic.

The Enormous Suitcase tells of Kelsey who travels back and forth between her mom’s house and her dad’s house. Every time she goes back and forth her suitcase gets fuller and bigger, and FULLER and BIGGER! It’s amazing what kinds of things she manages to fit in there…from toys to real live pets!

As with all of Robert Munsch’s stories, they are based on a real life situation or child. He decided to write this story for a girl in Calgary, Alberta who wrote and asked for a story going back and forth to her mom and dad’s separate homes, just as she was doing. So, now we have it….a new book with this exact theme. I can see how a book like this could be a great idea for kids who are in the same circumstances as Kelsey in the story, or even for kids who have friends in this situation. It’s a real-life kinda theme with a unique twist to it.
