Zazubean Chocolate! ~Giveaway

My appreciation for chocolate has increased in the last few years. I was never a big fan of it when I was younger – mainly because all I ever had was the cheap chocolate. You know, like chocolate Easter bunnies, chocolate Easter eggs, Aero bars (those were my favourite) and such like. It really probably would have been better for me if that was the only chocolate I ever had. Then I would never have decided that I actually DO like chocolate and I wouldn’t have felt the need to keep some in the cupboard so that I could have a nibble a couple times a week! Alas, I discovered good chocolate. I’m sure my hips are thanking me! Haha!

Zazubean has been on my list of companies to check out for awhile now. I’ve seen them in stores and have gotten a kick out of the names for some of their bars. For example, there’s the Squeeze, which is their bar flavoured with Orange, Ginger and yerba mate. Or there’s the one that likely best represents myself – Lunatic – which contains Mint and Cocoa Nibs! Can’t go wrong with mint!! But maybe you’re more of a Flirt, in which case cherries make you happy! I also know a few Nutbars out there! They’re the roasted almonds and coconut kind of people. There are quite a few more options as well, just in case none of those appeal to you!

The two bars I was sent to taste test (twist my rubber arm!) were Punch and Kiki. Punch isn’t actually on the website yet, but contains Pineapple and Coconut! The pineapple was very subtle and the coconut was very definitely present! With 55% cacao and sweetened only with coconut sugar, it makes for a very chocolatey bar that wasn’t overly sweet – definitely my kind of chocolate! Kiki, on the other hand, was a flavour I had never tried before. It’s Fig and Sea Salt! This time it contains 65% cacao, so is a bit more chocolatey, definitely a bit salty and the fig adds a different texture. Very good nibbling!

So what’s the deal with Zazubean you ask? Well, almost all the ingredients are fair trade certified, they’re organic, and you can also add vegan, cane sugar-free, gluten free, soy free and paleo friendly to the list! So you see, if you need an excuse to say that chocolate is good for you, that ought to do it! And if you need any more reasons for liking Zazubean, take a read of their Zazu Story page. Common passions (chocolate, need I say more?) and common desires (ethical, please!) brought about a better bar. I highly recommend a taste test. Head over to Facebook and prepare to be tantalized by pictures of chocolate and more chocolate! You can also follow them on Twitter!
