Scholastic Monday ~ Pig the Elf

It’s that time of year….when we pull the Christmas books off the shelf, start decorating for the holidays and turn on the Christmas music! Personally, I love Christmas. This year Scholastic has put out a few new titles just in time for this time of year!

Pig The Elf by Aaron Blabey is a new book that features the popular pug….Pig the Pug. Pig the Pug loves Christmas. He is excited about Santa and is feeling incredibly festive. Unfortunately, that also means that he decides he needs to stay up all night waiting for the many, many gifts that he has asked for. As the story unwinds, Pig learns a few lessons, in some very unexpected ways!

The book has plenty of humor and makes a unique Christmas read-aloud. For our family, it wasn’t quite the perfect fit as we don’t “do” Santa and our focus during the Christmas season is on the birth of Jesus. That said, there’s no denying that Pig the Elf is fun and whimsical and could be a good fit for other families.

  10. I love finding out more about how others “do” christmas – we do and don’t do santa – he’s a character in a story is all he is for us. But we’re also not christian so for us it’s more about getting together with family and helping others.
