Terra Beata Cranberry Farm! ~Giveaway x5!

I’ve always enjoyed cranberry juice – I like the tart factor. And hey, it has great side effects, like tasting good, being healthy, and the fruit making turkeys taste better! Did you know that there are cranberry farms in Canada? No? Yeah, me neither. It’s certainly not a crop that I’ve heard of being grown on the prairies. We’re all about the wheat and canola! However, out on the East coast, at a place called Terra Beata Cranberry Farm, in Lunenberg, Nova Scotia, cranberries are being grown! Second tidbit of truth – did you know that cranberries can be harvested from the bog via their u-pick? But, the bigger truth is that the field actually gets flooded for the big harvest!? Check out the picture of this year’s harvest! How cool is that? Here’s a really cool little video too that features Terra Beata farms and gives a quick synopsis of harvesting and about their company.

Terra Beata learned pretty quickly that just growing and selling cranberries wasn’t going to make them a living – so they started making value-added products. They’ve turned those cranberries into juice, they’ve dried them, they’ve made them into assorted preserves. And, of course, you can still purchase the frozen cranberries as well! My favorite part about this company is that their products are *real*!! They heard from their customers that they wanted no-sugar-added cranberry juice. And it’s amazing! There’s no sugar added. There’s no water added. It’s not “from concentrate”. It’s just pure cranberry juice! Personally, I can drink it straight, however, for those looking for less pucker power, you can definitely add water to make it to your preference! It’s also pretty cool that they also offer Tart Cherry (super yum as well!), Blueberry, and Cranberry Raspberry juice!

On the Gourmet Preserve front, they offer everything from your traditional cranberry sauce, to cranberry mincemeat to cranberry salsa to chutneys to marmalades and so on! They all sound yummy to me! I so admire people who take a product, inject it with their passion, and come out with brand new products that a twist on the traditional!

There are two dried fruits that are offered – cranberries and blueberries. And take note, rather than squeezing the juice out of the berries before drying them, Terra Beata leaves all that goodness within so that when you eat their dried cranberries, you are getting the benefit of all the vitamins that should be there! And, you also end up with a product that has about 40% less sugar in it! There are no additives and no preservatives. I guarantee you’ll notice the difference with these cranberries! My kids also loved the blueberries and would cheerfully eat them all up in one day – on their cereal, on their ice cream, as a snack, wherever they could get away with eating them!

When it comes to the frozen berries, Terra Beata actually processes cranberries from about 25 other Atlantic Canadian cranberry farms! It’s pretty cool when a small business ends up becoming a processor for other small businesses!

I’m afraid I could become quite addicted to the cranberry and cherry juices that Terra Beata offers. They’re two of my favourite juices and I love adding them to my water kefir as well! And our family loves having dried cranberries on our salads too! And there are cranberry scones and muffins and such out there just begging to be made with dried cranberries!

What about you? Do you love cranberries too? Head over to Facebook and wave at Terra Beata farms!
