HEXBUG VEX Explorers

Do you have children that love building? I sure do. Even my one year old daughter has found a love of building due to watching her brothers create, build and imagine almost all day.  My kids have a ridiculous amount of Lego, but they are always open to new building toys.  Enter: HEXBUG VEX Explorers.  I could almost hear the Hallelujah chorus being sung as I handed the boxes over to my two oldest sons. My nine year old was giddy with excitement.  My six year old had to eat his lunch with the box because I wouldn’t allow them to open the boxes until after they ate. *eye roll*

Once they began building on their VEX Explorers Discovery Command and VEX Explorers Rover I didn’t really hear from them or see them for two hours! They were like busy little bees building and chattering about how cool this product is. 🙂

As I washed the dishes and listened to them chit chat I was pleased to hear the many questions and learning that evolved from a building toy.  “See, I put this piece here and it makes the arm move!”, “Mom, they can send this rover to a planet and then they can learn more about it” and “Can we read more about astronauts, Mom?”.  Yessssss…..as a homeschool mom this is music to my ears! It sparked an interest in them.

As they built I also knew that their brains were being used in amazing ways. Not only fine motor and eye hand coordination but HEXBUG VEX products fit into the category of STEM learning.  Science, technology, engineering and mathematics are all utilised in VEX Robotics and VEX Explorers. It is just an introduction to STEM learning but it gets the children interested.  HEXBUG offers more advanced products to get your kids’ minds geared toward STEM learning even more such as the VEX Robotics Catapult and the VEX Robotics Crossbow.  Seriously neat stuff! 😉

The pieces are easy to assemble with a snap together design and every piece has movable features: tilting rotor blades and rotating panels for example.  Not only did my boys have a blast building their projects but they spent the rest of the day imagining and playing with their creations.  They even have little astronaut figurines to operate the mech loader and command base.

Do you have a 6-9 year old on your Christmas list that adores building, creating and imaging?  This may be the gift you need!  Reasonably priced and bound to be a big hit! Check out the HEXBUG website!
