Witty Activities with Offshoot Books

I am a book person.  If there aren’t piles of books in my home I don’t feel at home.  I think it is rubbing off on my children because I often find them snuggled on the couch browsing through a book and more often than not I catch my nine year old reading a novel when he should be doing his chores.

Offshoot Books is a whimsical company that prints both adult and children’s books. I had the joy of receiving two children’s books from their Witty Activities series.  I was quite pleased with the choices they made for my family.  How did they know I have a few inquisitive minds that enjoy learning through books?!  Witty Activities with Plants and Witty Activities with People and Places are full of bright illustrations and are very engaging.  My six year old sat and completed four pages in one sitting and then held the People and Places book to his chest and asked “Mom, can this please be my book?”  I guess with three siblings to share with he felt the need to claim this book now! 😉

Witty Activities with People and Places includes activities and awesome facts about twenty two different countries.  There are mazes, dot to dots, matching activities and word searches.  You learn common foods eaten in each country and there is an enticing map of each country as well.  My favourite fact learned about my country, Canada, is that there are actually polar bear prisons in Northern Manitoba.  I had no clue!! I had to google to learn more about that….. ha ha!

Witty Activities with Plants is a wonderful resource for any family that adores caring for plants or gardens.  It is a great starter book to teach your children about parts of a plant, types of flowers, vegetables and fruit, types of trees, herbs, shrubs, vines, aquatic plants and bulbs.  It has cute cartoon illustrations but also includes actual photos of plants and types of fruits and vegetables. Similar to People and Places it gives your child a chance to do mazes, dot to dots, colouring and counting activities. The Witty Activities books really draw the child in in many ways. And….did you know that rafflesia arnoldii is the world’s largest flower? It grows in Indonesia and does not have a stem, roots or leaves!!

I am really looking forward to doing more pages with my kiddos in these Offshoot Books.  It is a great way to spend some quality time with my kids plus they are learning so much….and so am I!!

Do you have any book lovers in your home? Need some cool activity books to do with your children? Check out the Witty Activities series from Offshoot Books!  They have a lot of other awesome books as well that may strike your interest.  You can browse their catalogue here.  🙂
